Structure of a Written Essay

An essay is generally a piece of writing that is a statement of the writer’s opinion. However the meaning of an essay can be unclear and may overlap with the meaning of an essay or newspaper, report, or even a novel. Essays are traditionally classified into formal and non-formal. The formal essays contain a thesis or main argument, such as in the composition paper. Non-formal essays tend to be less formal in their nature, with personal statements and descriptive opinions being the primary focus of them.formal essays are those where a thesis is clearly specified and usually stated following the writing process in its entirety, while non-formal essays are more loosely defined according to the opinions expressed.

Literary journalism utilizes literary devices a lot. This is the case with the use and integration of quotes and other literary devices. However when it comes to the written response to a particular essay topic, the format and style of the essay are determined by the essay’s subject and the argument made in support of it. There are five kinds of essays that include analytical, topical, argumentative and descriptive. The term “topical essay” is broad term that refers to any essay that focuses on an event of the moment or a political issue. This type of essay employs general statements to address the topic in a more detailed format. They can be utilized to discuss topics like polls, reviews and surveys. They all require careful observation and interpretation and the inclusion and integration of specific information and arguments to support a particular view.

In a thesis statement, the main themes of the essay are explored in depth. The fourth type of structure is the discussion essay. This format is different from the narrative style in that it will go beyond the standard topic sentence and provide an in-depth discussion of a topic or issue. The discussion format will have an argument at the beginning of every paragraph. This format is similar to the argumentative format. The conclusion paragraphs typically discuss the thesis in a way that leaves the reader with a strong idea or suggestion. The conclusion paragraph isn’t as important than the other paragraphs, and readers can decide for themselves.
